8 Brilliant LEGO Storage Ideas to Keep Bricks Organised and Under Control

by Varun Khullar 19 Apr 2025

We all love building with little toy bricks such as LEGO®, MEGA™ and more. The creativity, the building, the joy of snapping that final brick into place is unbeatable. But if there is one thing brick fans do not love, it is the mess. From tiny parts scattered across the floor to lost instructions and half‑built sets gathering dust, storing LEGO and MEGA sets can quickly become a challenge.

Whether you are a parent, collector or casual builder, finding the best way to store bricks is key to enjoying this hobby stress‑free. Below you will find eight brilliant storage ideas, each with clear pros and cons, to help you keep every collection neat tidy and ready for action.

1. 💚 Brick Bagz – Eco Friendly LEGO Storage Bags

  • Pros: Environmentally friendly, lightweight, ideal for travel or set specific storage
  • Cons: Not suitable for bulk bricks or detailed sorting
  • Best for: Eco‑conscious families, travel sets, storage by theme or set

2. 🟢 Clear Drawer Units – The Best Option for Sorted LEGO Bricks

Clear drawer organisers such as craft or DIY units are superb for dedicated sorting. Label each drawer by colour part type or size and the transparent fronts make pieces simple to locate.

  • Pros: Very organised, stackable, instantly visible contents
  • Cons: Needs space, set‑up time and ongoing discipline
  • Best for: Adult Fans of LEGO, large collections, meticulous sorters

3. 🟠 Stackable Storage Boxes – Great for Families and Quick Clean‑ups

Stackable boxes or clear bins are a practical choice for fast tidying in playrooms. Sort loosely into bricks wheels and minifigures so children can manage the system on their own.

  • Pros: Budget friendly, child accessible, flexible categories
  • Cons: Small parts can be hard to find, requires floor or shelf space, less eco friendly
  • Best for: Families, shared play areas, group builds

4. 🟡 LEGO Storage Heads and Branded Boxes – Fun Storage Kids Love

  • Cons: Opaque sides, limited sorting detail, less eco friendly
  • Best for: Children’s bedrooms, casual storage, display‑ready options

Final Brick of Wisdom

No single system is perfect for every builder. The right solution depends on how you build, how much space you have and who will use the bricks. Whether you go green with Brick Bagz, organise rigorously with drawer units or keep things simple with sandwich bags, a tidy system makes building more fun and far less frustrating.

Top tip: Whatever approach you choose, add clear labels. Even a simple sticker or colour code saves time and effort later.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
